Frequently Asked Questions:

Starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions, especially if it’s your first time. Below, I’ve answered some of the most common queries about how I work, what to expect, and practical details like confidentiality and session format. If there’s anything else you’re unsure about, please don’t hesitate to get in touch, I’m always happy to help.

What kind of therapy do you offer?

I offer counselling and psychotherapy using an integrative approach, which means I draw from a range of therapeutic models to suit your unique needs. This may include Person-centred, Psychodynamic, and Mindfulness-informed approaches, or techniques drawn from CBT, Transactional Analysis, Existential or Somatic Therapies. I view each person holistically and adapt our work to reflect your individuality.

Are you a qualified therapist?

Yes. I am a trained and experienced counsellor and psychotherapist, and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I work in accordance with their Ethical Framework, which means I am professionally accountable and committed to safe, ethical practice.

Do you offer online or phone sessions?

Yes. I offer therapy online via video call or over the phone, depending on what feels more comfortable for you.  While it’s different from face-to-face work, remote therapy can be just as effective, with its own set of benefits such as flexibility, privacy, and accessibility.

Is everything I say confidential?

Yes, what you share with me is kept confidential. However, there are some rare exceptions, for example, if I believe there is a serious risk of harm to you or others, or in specific legal or safeguarding situations. Wherever possible, I would speak to you first before taking any action.

Do you keep records of our sessions?

Yes, I keep brief, factual notes for professional purposes. These are stored securely and in accordance with UK GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). Your information is never shared without your permission, unless legally required.

What happens if I need to cancel due to ill health?

I understand that chronic illness and other health difficulties can be unpredictable. If you need to cancel or rearrange at short notice due to ill health, please let me know as soon as you’re able. Wherever possible, I will offer an alternative appointment within the following week so that you don’t lose your session or incur an additional fee. If it isn’t possible to rearrange within that timeframe, late cancellation fees may apply.

How long is each session?

Each session lasts 60 minutes and typically takes place once a week. We can agree on a regular day and time that works for you.

How many sessions will I need?

That depends on your needs and goals. Some people come for short-term support around a specific issue, while others choose longer-term work for deeper exploration. We’ll regularly review how things are going and decide together what feels right.

How much do you charge?

My fee is £55 per session. I offer a discounted rate of £300 for 6 sessions: please feel free to ask if this is of interest to you.

How do I get started?

You’re welcome to get in touch via email / contact form to arrange an initial conversation. This is a chance for us to talk about what you’re looking for and see whether working together feels like a good fit.
